Love Your Backlog week is back and it is something I’ve actually been thinking about lately. After adding a few new games to my collection, it got me thinking about some of the forgotten games within my collection as well as the numerous ones I have started and then given up on.
As of right now, the total number of games in my backlog sits at around the one hundred mark. This is made up of a mixture of physical and digital Xbox One and PlayStation 4 games as well as around fifteen Nintendo Switch games again are a mixture of physical and digital games. I haven’t included any games from Steam as many of them are games I’ve completed previously but that is around another thirty games there.
A game you’re eager to play, but haven’t yet started – Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
I’ve been in two minds about Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order lately. My boyfriend played it when it first came out and didn’t get on with it but I never got a chance to play it before he posted the game back (we had rented it from Boomerang Games). It’s been sat on my rental list again for a little while but I finally bumped it to the top of my list and it arrived this morning. I’m excited to play as I love Star Wars as a whole but I feel a little uncertain as to whether I will like it or not once I start playing. I guess only time will tell!
A game you’ve started several times but haven’t yet finished – Xenoblade Chronicles 2
While I’ve only restarted this game twice, I still have such a long way to go until I do complete it. It has been a good few months since I last, at least six months but I don’t want to restart the game again as I’ve put at least one hundred hours into this playthrough. I am determined to finish this save as well as the extra content when I do get around to it. I want to say I’ll complete it by the end of this year but I’m not sure if that is a little too optimistic or not especially with the Xenoblade Chronicles Remaster being released in the near future too.
The most recent addition to your library – Nier Automata
Nier Automata is my most recent addition to my collection but, it won’t be the first time I have played the game. I first played it a few months after it was released via Boomerang Games. It was one of the first games I ever rented from them but there was just something about it that I couldn’t get on with. I continued to watch the game played over on Twitch and told myself if I saw it at a good price, I would pick it up again. Low and behold I stumbled across the Game of the YoRHa Edition for £13 online. Not a bad price but still a nice little saving compared to its normal retail price.
The game which has spent the most time on your backlog – Persona 5 & Gal Metal
Persona 5 is definetly the one game that has spent the longest time unplayed in my collection. While there have been moments where I’ve gone to play the game, something comes up or another game will grab my attention instead. I’ve always heard positive things about the game and earlier games as well and thought that I would give the game ago. I just didn’t say when that would be exactly.
Gal Metal for Nintendo Switch is a game I picked up quite some time ago back in early twenty-nineteen and it has just been sat on the shelf ever since. It is probably the game that won’t get played anytime in the near future but at the same time, it is also a game that I do want to play through at the same time. I think I was drawn to Gal Metal as it seems to be inspired by the Japanese band BABYMETAL and that it was a bit of an unusual game.
The person who is responsible for adding the most entries to your backlog – Me!
I’d have to say I’m probably the biggest reason as to why my backlog has grown so much over the past couple of years. I tend to wait until games I want to try and have a look at go on sale but then I’ll see other games as well that I want to get at the same time. When I was younger, my brother and I spent a lot of our time with our Grandparents and a lot of our earlier video games collection was from charity shops and car boot sales. We would always look out for games that were on sale or on offer to make the most of our money. I guess that has somewhat stuck with me over the years.
I can’t say I’m disappointed in the size of my backlog but I’m happy with it as I know it is going to be full of new adventures, memories and surprises that I just need to find the time to discover them.
