April has been a really busy month for me where I’ve been putting in extra hours to land a project at work and just life in general hasn’t left me with much time to game. However, that didn’t stop me from spending some time playing a couple of games.
I’ve really been into Splatoon 2 this month. I pre-ordered the new Octo-expansion that is being released in the next couple of months and the 3.0 Update has recently just landed adding even more content to the game.
I’ve really loved playing the multiplayer side of the game and I’m starting to work my way up to playing Ranked Battles soon. I’ve also finally made a proper start on the story mode of Splatoon 2. I’m about halfway through now and it has been so much fun so far. I’m wanting to get it finished before the new downloadable content is released. There is also the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Splatfest Tournament that is currently running worldwide at the moment.
Now that it seems my issues with losing my rending device while playing Overwatch is fixed I managed to play the Retribution event while it was out with no issues at all. Although the Retribution felt somewhat shorter than last year’s Uprising event it was still good fun and the map that was created for the event was amazing also.
I also managed to play the 6 Vs 6 competitive elimination game mode and actually got a somewhat okay skill rating at the end. Considering I skipped the previous season of competitive Overwatch due to my AMD graphics card issue I was pretty happy with not having any rendering device issues mid-match. I also was lucky enough to get a few of the Retribution skins including Mei, Hanzo, Reaper and Sombra’s from loot boxes although Mei’s is my favourite!
Those are the only two games that I have really played this month. However, if you follow me on Twitter or have seen a couple of my blog posts from earlier in April you will know that I attended EGX Rezzed this year in London. I had loads of fun and you can check out what I got up to here. Talking about events I will also be attending this year RTX London event at the ExCel Centre in September. I attended the first RTX London last year and loved it and I can’t wait for this years!
All though during April I only really played Splatoon 2 and Overwatch I wasn’t able to make any real progress with the games I am trying to complete. I have however picked up Horizon Zero Dawn in the last few days so that’s a start. This means that this month’s games stay the same as March.
The games that I am currently trying to complete are:
PlayStation 4 – Horizon Zero Dawn
Xbox One – Assassins Creed Origins
Nintendo Switch – Super Mario Odyssey
Looking ahead into May I should have plenty of time for gaming with some time away from work in the middle of the month. There are also some new releases I am looking forward to which include Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles for Nintendo Switch, Cities: Skylines Parklife, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze all of which are released shortly!
