January has nearly come to an end and I honestly do not know where this month has gone! From a gaming point of view though I’ve had a pretty good month. I picked up my PlayStation 4 on New Years Eve and have a nice little collection of games building up. I finally decided to pick up Final Fantasy XIV Online after months of deliberation and settled on the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Thank goodness for post-Christmas and January sales!
There’s also been several new releases that I’ve been really looking forward to. Firstly was Monster Hunter World on Xbox One. I’ve spent a lot of my free time over the weekend playing this and its great fun but sometimes highly stressful when you are trying to take down a monster. Also a childhood favourite in the form of Pokémon Crystal was released on Friday. I actually never played Crystal when it originally came out. The Sims 4 also released the community created Stuff Pack for Laundry Day earlier this month too. Who knew doing your laundry could be such fun? Also I was lucky enough to play the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta this week as well and I honestly can not wait for the full game to come out in March! I had so much fun with it.
Despite the fact it has been a good month for gaming, I have to admit I have a terrible habit of starting games, getting part way through and then move on to something else. It becomes more difficult each time there is a new release as well, a feeling I’m sure many can relate to. I had a quick flick through my collection of games I realized just how many unfinished games I have. To be honest it feels a little embarrassing just how many there are still to be finished. For now though my aim is to complete as many of those games as possible over the next few months. Of course there is no real rush to complete them but just something fun to do really.
The games that I am currently trying to complete are:
PlayStation 4 – Horizon Zero Dawn
Xbox One – Assassins Creed Origins
Nintendo Switch – Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Of course all three of these games have so much to them that it is going to take me a little while to get back into them and complete them but I’m up for the challenge. I’ve really been enjoying Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Nintendo Switch so I will probably get more of the story completed over the next few weeks.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the first My Month In Gaming blog post. I’m planning on doing blog posts like this each month throughout the year to look back at and reflect on things that have happened in the gaming community, a quick look at new releases, games I’ve been playing and looking forward to but really just to cover a bit of everything. I look forward to sharing the next installment in Feburary!
